# Independent Contractor Status

####

As an independent contractor, you are responsible for managing your employment status with the IRS. Wag! is not your employer and, as such, you are not an employee of Wag!. For details on what it means to be an independent contractor, please refer to the [**IRS’s resource center**](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/independent-contractor-self-employed-or-employee).

####

## Can I get proof of employment?

####

We can't provide traditional proof of employment since Pet Caregivers who use Wag! are independent contractors, not employees. Please refer to the [**IRS’s resource center**](https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/independent-contractor-self-employed-or-employee) for more information on accepted proof of employment for independent contracting.

####

## Does Wag! offer assistance with taxes?

####

As an independent contractor, you are responsible for managing taxes and reporting earnings to the IRS. [**Wag! partners with Keeper Tax**](https://www.keepertax.com/posts/wag-taxes) to make filing taxes easier than ever, at an exclusive discount. For questions about your taxes or help filing, please consult with a tax professional.
